FAQ'S
What is a color run???
Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed event in which participants are doused in different colors at each color station along the track.
After Color Runners complete the race, the fun continues with an unforgettable color party at the finish line. This larger than life party is equipped with music, dancing and massive color throws, which create tons of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5K party on the planet!
Is The Color Run timed?
The Color Run is not a timed event. Runners tend to enjoy thier time out there. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.
Is Color Powder Safe?
Safety is our main priority! Colors are made with high quality cornstarch and food dyes. All materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the US FDA. However our product is not designed for consumption.
Is it harmful if you inhale it?
Although all the materials are food grade we do not recommend inhaling large quantities of color powder. Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when participating in color powder events. It should also always be used in well ventilated outdoor space.
Does Color Powder Stain Clothing?
Our color powder washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some materials. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water.
Does Color Powder Stain Skin or Hair?
Just as with clothing we recommend shaking off all excess powder before exposing to water. Normal soap and water should remove color powder from skin and hair. Some color does tend to linger for a few days especially on blonde hair. If you are worried about staining, we recommend applying a moisturizer to skin and coating your hair with a small amount of coconut or olive oil before the event.
How is the color administered along the course? You will see smiling faces along the course whose main goal is to douse you in colorful powder to ensure that you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.
Do you have a cleaning station at the finish after party? We have air blown color cleaning at the finish line. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are good for the drive home. It is actually pretty fun to see people still colorful around town after The Color Run event. It is like a badge of honor!
What happens if there is bad weather?A little rain won’t stop The Happiest 5k! It even makes the color brighter! If there are major weather warnings in your city during the weekend of the event, check your local news and stay tuned for emails with updates.
